  • Black Youth Helpline – national helpline available to Black youth to support their health, mental wellbeing, education, and communities. Available toll-free at 1-833-294-8650.
  • KUU-US Crisis Line Society in BC provides a First Nations and Indigenous-specific crisis line available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Toll-free at 1-800-588-8717.
  • Indian Residential School Crisis Line -a national support line for anyone affected by their experience at residential schools, and those who are triggered by the latest reports. 24-hour national crisis line: 1-866-925-4419.

  • 20 Podcasts That Confront Racism in America – A list of 20 podcast that look at the Black experience and anti-Black racism.
  • Anti-Racism Reminders – A series of posters created by BC artists, and promoted by the BC Government.
  • Black Lives Matter hashtag – #BlackLivesMatter was founded in 2013 in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer. It is now an international human rights movement originating from within the African American community, which campaigns against violence and systemic racism towards Black people.
  • Resilience BC Anti-Racism Network – a new multi-faceted, province-wide approach for identifying and challenging racism. Also provides information on how to report hate crimes.

Educational websites

  • Anti-Racism (SD8 Kootenay Lake) – online resource that provides practical guidance to teachers and parents as they explore issues of race with students.
  • Anti-Asian Racism Resources (UBC Dept of Asian Studies) – Links to resources, news stories, opinion pieces, and scholarly articles on race in Asian, or in Asian diaspora communities sheets focuses on racism experienced by Indigenous people in Canada – how to understand it in historical context, how it affects individuals and communities, and what programs, policies and strategies exist to combat it.   • BC Black History Awareness Society – celebrates the achievements of Black people in British Columbia by creating an awareness of the history of Blacks in B.C., stimulating interest in the contributions of persons of African ancestry to B.C. and Canada today, and celebrating historical and current achievements in the arts, education, government, sports, science etc.
  • BCTF Anti-racism Online Resources and Websites – Resources for educators from the British Columbia Teachers’ Association.
  • British Columbia Black History Awareness Society (BCBHAS) – A great educational resource building awareness of the history of Blacks in BC, and celebrating their historical and current achievements in the arts, education, government, sports, science, etc.
  • Being Black in Canada (CBC) – An up-to-date portal from CBC with articles and videos on “Being Black in Canada”, with highlights from arts, sports, books, streaming video, and CBC’s archives.
  • Dismantling Racism – web-based workbook originally designed as a workshop.

  • Legal Info and Help: Black Lives Matter – A great post from British Columbia’s Clicklaw, with resources on legal topics related to Black Lives Matter including human rights, police accountability, protest rights, and getting legal help.
  • Reconciliation Canada – Born from the vision of Chief Dr. Robert Joseph, Gwawaenuk Elder, Reconciliation Canada is leading the way in engaging Canadians in dialogue and transformative experiences that revitalize the relationships among Indigenous peoples and all Canadians.
